WORK180 · Early Careers Pledge

One million
young Australians
into work by 2032.

A generation is being shut out of work while the jobs that need them go unfilled. The Early Careers Pledge is a public commitment from CEOs, employers, educators and government to open the door, and to bring others with them.

The Early Careers Pledge: building the next workforce
The case

Our younger generation
is at risk.

Youth unemployment keeps rising. The entry-level jobs young people used to start in are being automated away, and a degree no longer guarantees a way in. At the same time, many employers, especially in construction, mining, engineering, energy and care, cannot fill the roles they have open. The work exists and the people exist. What is broken is the connection between the work and the people, and that is a problem we can solve together.

What signing means

A clear, public commitment.

  • 01

We will back the future generation.

We'll keep creating real first jobs for young Australians, apprenticeships, traineeships, graduate and entry-level roles, and back them on their potential.
  • 02

We will connect them to opportunities.

We'll open the door for young people, widening access for those often overlooked and help build a more inclusive workforce.
  • 03

We will help them build the skills they need to succeed.

A proper start with real induction, mentoring and on-the-job training, so a first role becomes the foundation for a lasting career.
